Guilherme Pinto gives name to the square in Matosinhos News Journal

Guilherme Pinto, ex-president of the Chamber of Matosinhos and passed away on Sunday, var to give name to the future square that the local Authority will build on the land between the streets of Sousa Aroso, de Brito e Cunha and João I, in Matosinhos-Sul.

The proposal, which is intended to be a tribute, it was this Thursday presented by the president of the Municipality, Eduardo Pinheiro, during the extraordinary meeting of the executive. You will have to be approved by the Commission of Toponymy and by the Union of the Parishes of Matosinhos and Leça da Palmeira. Account, however, with the support of the political forces represented in the executive.

the construction of The future Praça Guilherme Pinto will start later this month and is budgeted at 477.993,22 euros. It was conceived by the former president, who considered that this will be “the large square that Matosinhos has never had and that from now on, you can be a privileged place for the exercise of citizenship”. The space was designed by the architect municipal Luísa Valente and will feature a Monument to the Laborer Canning, by the sculptor Rui Anahory.

Also at the meeting this Thursday has been approved, by unanimous vote, the delegation of the competence to Eduardo Pinheiro, as well as his appointment to the presidency of the municipal companies Matosinhos Habit and Matosinhos Sport. For the Assembly of the Inter-county region (Lipor) in substitution of Guilherme Pinto, was approved in the name of councillor Fernando Rocha.
