Sintra Press Photo shows from today’s images on the “Scourge of mankind” – Daily mail

Images on the theme of “Scourge of mankind” captured by photojournalists, Mário Cruz, Phil Moore and Dominic Nahr will be shown from today in Sintra Press Photo 2016, in the Museum of Art of Sintra (MU.The SA).

The three selected this year for the Sintra Press Photo will be present at the inauguration, at 17:00, to talk about the themes of his works, in a debate which will include the moderation of Ricardo Alexandre, editor of the international radio and television.

This second edition of the event has as its theme “Scourge of mankind”, featuring images of Japan, the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Portugal, which reflect the urgency and desperation of thousands of people affected by conflict, extreme poverty and natural disasters.

Mario Cruz, 28, a photojournalist at the agency Lusa, the winner of the Category Contemporary Issues from World Press Photo 2016, also won, this year, the main award of the Award of Photojournalism Estação imagem Viana do Castelo, with the same story, entitled “Unicef, slave contemporary”, about children enslaved by the false islamic schools in Senegal and Guinea-Bissau.

In Sintra, portugal, Mario Cruz will expose the “Roof”, a work intimate about a group of homeless people living in abandoned buildings in the greater Lisbon area.

The british Phil Moore, 32 years, whose work is based primarily on the coverage of humanitarian crises and conflicts around the world, presents in Sintra “Nightwalkers”, a photographic series about the exodus of thousands of people fleeing in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

frequent Contributor to Time magazine, and awarded with some of the most important prizes for photojournalism international, a swiss Dominic Nahr, 31 years, presents “Fallout”, about the drama of the central Fukushima, since hours after the earthquake, that led to the destruction of the coast japanese and culminated in one of the largest nuclear disaster in world history.

The images of the Sintra Press Photo 2016 will be evident until the 31st of December, from Tuesday to Friday, from 10:00 to 20:00, and at weekends from 14:00 to 20:00, with entry to the euro.

This event is conceived and financed by the Union of the Parishes of Sintra, with the organization of the Association of Cultural Reflection and with the support of the municipality of Sintra.
