The nightmares of the Portuguese in “The Arabian Nights” – TSF Online

“The Restless,” the first volume of the movie “The Thousand and One Night” debut this Saturday in Cannes, which runs from today the Directors’ Fortnight. “The desolate” is the second, “The enchanted” the third part of this trilogy that portrays Portugal in the years 2013 and 2014.

The political crisis, economic and social crisis, a number of themes treated in this work more than six hours, according to the producer Luis Urbano, “does not intend to attack anyone, just make a picture.” The film features a cast composed of actors Adriano Luz, Américo Silva, Carloto Cotta, Tailor Crest, Chico Plates, Gonçalo Waddington, Joana de Verona, Jing Jing Guo, Luisa Cruz and Teresa Madruga.

“Taboo” was premiered at the Berlinale competition where it won the Alfred Bauer Prize and FIPRESCI; the film has been sold to more than 50 countries and won several awards. Miguel Gomes retrospective of the work took place at the Viennale, BAFICI, at the Turin Film Festival in Germany and the USA.
