More than 2,000 policemen were to advance their careers with the new statute saw this decision delayed by information note from the national leadership of the PSP, a situation that is being contested by the unions, threatening to resort to justice.

According to the employment status of the PSP, which came into force on December 1, 2015, the Deputy Commissioners and agents for more than a year in experimental phase carried over automatically to the second remunerative position of career and category they are in.

In a briefing note, released through social portal on 15 January, the national leadership of the PSP reports that Deputy Commissioners and agents in these conditions would be placed in the second position remuneration in February. The President of the National Union of Police Officers (SNOP), Henrique Figueiredo, told Lusa that the social portal PSP released two different messages, which caused a stir, since, with the entry into force of the new statute, the Deputy Commissioners and officials, should be automatically repositioned. Henrique Figueiredo said that the current status introduced this innovation to the Deputy Commissioners and officials, who expected to happen on 1 December.

The President of the SNOP said the union, which admits advance to justice, requested information from the national leadership of the PSP, which will allegedly be trying to find a legal solution within the existing framework.

Also the National Police Union (Sinapol) provided its services legal for interested police take the situation to court. President’s Sinapol, Armando Ferreira, said Lusa that the union requested information from the national leadership of the PSP and asked the Ministry of Internal Affairs to intervene in resolving the situation.

Second trade unions, about 200 Deputy Commissioners and close to 2000 agents are more than a year in experimental stage and had to move to the second remunerative position, as required by statute.

According to the latest published information note social portal, policemen, under the new statute, will see increased ordered in late January are those who are in the first index of each station, representing about 25% of the herd.
