The British musician David Bowie, one of the largest ever celebrities of popular culture, died on Sunday, aged 69, from cancer.

The news was announced on the Facebook page and Twitter Singer . The publicist of Bowie, Steve Martin, confirmed the death of the musician told Sky News

“January 10, 2016:. David Bowie died peacefully today surrounded by his family, after a courageous battle against cancer during 18 months, “the statement posted on Facebook and Twitter musician, about 6:30 am Monday.

“Many of you share this loss, but we ask that you respect the family’s privacy during the grieving time,” adds the note.

David Bowie had just released a new album, BlackStar , well received by critics. In PUBLIC, Vítor Belanciano 25 described this album as British inspired by jazz and as a bold album.

Born January 8, 1947, in London. Parents named him David Jones, name the musician changed 19 years later, in 1966, due to the success achieved by another David Jones – the Monkees. The following year he released his first album: David Bowie
