Minister says government does not intervene in the price of tuition – Digital Journal

The Minister of Higher Education, Manuel Heitor, he stressed today that the Government does not interfere in the price formation of tuition fees which are set according to established rules.
 

The governor responded to reporters in Bragança, a question about today’s news Diário Económico newspaper that realizes an increase for September, tuition fees in higher education dictated by the annual inflation rate and rise in the national minimum wage.

“It’s a simple, ordinary matter, is perfectly regulated and is fixed every year as a result of the wealth produced and therefore does not require any intervention by the Government,” said Minister guardianship.

Manuel Heitor insisted that the matter “has no government intervention because the issue of tuition fees in Portugal is perfectly resolved.”

According to the accounts made by the Daily economic, the maximum tuition fee will increase, taking into account the average inflation forecast, five euros in the school year 2016/2017, rising to 1068.46 euros.

Since the minimum tuition fee should suffer a greater increase 32.5 euros, from 656.5 to 689 euros due to the increase in the minimum wage, according still the source.

The minister was speaking on the sidelines of a meeting with several local agents in the Polytechnic Institute of Bragança .

The governor dedicated the entire day to this institution of higher education with various meetings and gatherings on the agenda and the opening of the new College of Mirandela.
