Singer Sharon Jones dies at the age of 60 years – Globo.com

Sharon Jones died at the age of 60 years on Friday night, 18. The singer of soul fought since 2013 against a cancer in the pancreas. The news was announced on the official profile of the singer in Facebook. “We are deeply saddened to announce that Sharon Jones passed away today after a battle heroica against cancer of the pancreas. She was surrounded by her loved ones, including the Dap-Kings (the band of which the singer was a part)”, says the statement released on the social network.

On the official site of Sharon Jones, a message is grateful for the affection of the fans and asks for donations to charitable institutions: "Thank you for your prayers and thoughts during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the following organizations: The Lustgarten Foundation, the James Brown Family Foundation and Little Kids Rock. Additional details about the funeral will be announced soon."

Born in Georgia, in the United States, Sharon Jones began his career in the 70′s singing in churches and doing local shows. In 1996 he released his first album and since then made investments in concerts and albums of Lou Reed, David Byrne and Fat Boy Slim.
