Four days of free concerts on New Year’s Eve – Daily News – Lisbon

Town Hall Square will host a Christmas market. The time lights already illuminate 34 sites in the city

A Christmas market in Town Hall Square and four days of free concerts in the Palace Square in Lisbon’s new the holiday programming and New Year’s Eve presented today by the city of Lisbon.

The Christmas program and New Year’s Eve was announced in the Town Hall and constitutes an investment of half a million euros, said the Mayor of Lisbon, Fernando Medina.

Between December 31 and January 3, the Palace Square will host free concerts by artists such as the Trovante, Richie Campbell, Carminho and Antonio Zambujo, DAMA, Generation Orchestra, Symphonic Band of PSP or Sinfonietta de Lisboa.

In the words of Fernando Medina, the local authority want this party to be “a moment that is intended for all” as it is “one of the great events of the year Lisbon. ” “It’s the greatest moment of openness and spectacle, taking the festivities of the city”, he stressed the mayor.

Illuminations with Christmas motifs will adorn 34 locations around the city, including the Chiado, Rua Augusta or the Rossio, where you can find a Christmas tree several meters, gold and silver tones.

The Municipality of Lisbon provides for an investment of 320,000 euros in a facility composed of more than two million bulbs, which will be on until January 6, from 18:00 to 01:00, and that was lit today by the mayor.

On the night of 24 to 25 December and in the New Year’s Eve, December 31 to January 1st, the city will be lit between 18:00 and 6:00.

Also in the Palace Square an ice rink will be installed, available between days December 11 and January 10, from 10:00 to 22:00, and the already usual video projections at the Arc of Augusta Street.

The theme of this year’s ‘mapping video’ will be “The doors enchanted “and represent a countdown to Christmas day. 15-minute sessions will be at 19:00, 20:00 and 21:00.

The program also includes several Christmas concerts spread over several churches in the city and also at Cinema São Jorge and São Luiz Municipal Theatre, and fairs in Liberty Avenue, Restauradores, Rossio and Rua Augusta.

Also attending the presentation were the president of the Commerce and Services Associations Union, Carla Salsinha, the executive director of the Association of Turismo de Lisboa, Victor Costa, the provider of the Holy House of Mercy of Lisbon, Pedro Santana Lopes, and some of the artists who will take the stage at the Palace Square.

The lead singer of Trovante Luis Dams, intervened on behalf of the artists, being “pleased to play a single occasion” and the “quality assurance in production” of concerts, liability André Sardet and Alvaro Covões.
