On Christmas Day, a gift from Radiohead. Nothing less than a new song the band, which had been invited last year to compose the theme of Spectre , the latest James Bond movie. Sam Smith eventually lead to better, but Radiohead liked what they did and have now decided to publish the theme for all listen to what might have been.

The process is repeated every movie James Bond: to invite various artists to compose the opening theme of the saga and the proposals is chosen one. This year it was Sam Smith chosen with a theme of divided opinion, leaving behind, for example, the singers Ellie Goulding and Lana Del Rey.

Goulding has even published a photo of July out the legendary Abbey Road studios with the caption: “It’s a trap.” Still shared the title of the James Bond film, 1973, Live and Let Die . Has been also at Abbey Road Adele recorded Skyfall .

Radiohead British were also challenged to compose a theme but, unlike the usual instead arrumarem of the song in a drawer musicians decided to publish it.

It’s not often we have the opportunity to hear a theme that was never chosen for the film’s most famous spy movie. Already heard some rumors about this work of Radiohead, coming up a few bets on what the band would have.

On Friday Christmas, Twitter, Thom Yorke dispelled all doubts. The musician confirmed that in fact the band had been invited but had composed the theme that had not worked. “But it became something of our own, we like a lot,” writes the musician in a statement that can also be read on Soundcloud. The band also takes this opportunity to wish a Merry Christmas. “May the Force be with you,” he concluded, referring to Star Wars and at the expense of 007.

The theme comes at a time that the band seems to be working in a new record. But on this, not a word. At least for now.

Spectre , the 24th James Bond film, directed by Sam Mendes and starring Daniel Craig, had as its official theme Writing’s on the Wall Sam Smith, who just happened to Skyfall , Adele. The issue, published in late September, a month before the premiere of the film was written by Sam Smith and his composer Jimmy Napes – was the duo who composed Stay With Me . Since 1965, the theme of James Bond was not the responsibility of a male solo artist.
