Nicolas Cage returns stolen dinosaur skull – TVI24

Nicolas Cage returned a dinosaur skull with more than 67 million years, which had been stolen, the Mongolian authorities, after having bought at auction. The bones had been trafficked to the US for a paleontologist, accused of being “responsible for the black market in prehistoric fossils”.

This could be the plot of the latest film by American actor, but it is reality. Nicolas Cage bought the dinosaur skull in 2007, a gallery in Beverly Hills, USA.

To be with the bones of Tarbosaurus Bataar – a similar kind, but smaller than the T. Rex – the Hollywood star had to dispute it with other known actor: Leonardo DiCaprio. But the protagonist of “City of Angels” managed to snatch the skull at auction for $ 276 thousand.

For several years, the actor kept the object in his possession without raising any issue but, according to the The Verge , Nicolas Cage have been informed that the bones could have been stolen and, therefore, gave them voluntarily to US authorities. It is now up to the US police return the remains of dinosaur country of origin, Mongolia.

It is thought that the fossil has been stolen and trafficked by Erick Prokopi, a man who was arrested for these crimes in 2014. The trafficker was arrested in the Asian country, which criminalized removal fossil of its territory in 1924.
