Julian Assange is a new character in Asterix and Obelix – TVI24

One of the eight new characters created by Yves Ferri and Didier Conrad is called “Doublepolemix” and is a Gallic journalist inspired by Julian Assange figure, founder of Wikileaks organization. The villain of this story is “Bonuspromoplus” Caesar’s counselor.

“The papyrus Caesar,” 36th volume of this BD, will have a circulation of two million copies in French and another two million twenty languages ​​and other languages, including Portuguese and Mirandese.

Yves Ferri and Didier Conrad are the same authors who in 2013 signed the previous volume, “Asterix among the Picts,” the first book in which Uderzo did not participate.

Uderzo and René Goscinny revealed Asterix in Pilote magazine in 1959. Asterix is ​​a small Gallic of bushy mustache whose close friend Obelix, clumsy character and with a disproportionate force, which carries menhirs and loves to eat wild boars.

Both are residents of an invincible village that stubbornly resists military assaults of the Romans because of a famous magic potion concocted by the druid Panoramix.

The first book, “Asterix the Gaul”, just came out in 1961, setting off one of the most successful comic series, more than 350 million books sold worldwide.

The partnership between Uderzo and Goscinny ended in 1977 with the death of the writer, but the name of both was always kept at the signing of the stories.

Albert Uderzo, 88, withdrew from the series in 2011 claiming exhaustion.
