Some time ago I was away from the television, but still alive for those who still remembered their presences in cooking shows on RTP and who had kept copies of the journal Teleculinária and its books. António da Silva, better known as “Silva boss,” died on Wednesday, aged 81, moved to public television.

Born in Caldelas, Amares municipality, in 1934 António Silva chose Lisbon at 18 to start working in the hotel business. Six years later, he went to Lourenco Marques, the name of the Mozambique capital moved to Maputo after independence, where he began to head chef career in various hotels.

Turned out to return to the Portuguese capital, and joined the kitchen of the Hotel Avenida Palace. Taught at Work Mother and Culinary Institute Margarine Cowboy.

After completing the course at the Lisbon Hotel School with honors, was head of the Grill of the Hotel Altis and then Director of Production Eurest Portugal. Later he opened the restaurant Super Chief in Lisbon, remember RTP.

He created the magazine Teleculinária and for several years had cooking spaces on public television. She wrote cookbooks and was an honorary member of several national and international gastronomic brotherhoods. He was also founder and president of the Association of Cooks and Confectioners of Portugal.

The body of Antonio Silva will be even transported Wednesday from Lisbon to Caldelas in Amares. RTP indicates that the funeral is scheduled for 17:30, Thursday, in the Parish Church of Santiago de Caldelas.
