Ruth Rendell died, the “Queen of Crime” – TVI24

He died British writer Ruth Rendell. The author, who is considered one of the most remarkable of the detective story, died Saturday at age 85.

His death was announced on Saturday by the publisher, Hutchison, who asked for privacy for the family in this time of grief.

Rendell, often called Queen of Crime , was admitted to the hospital since January after suffering a cerebral vascular accident (CVA).

Leave a work composed of more than 60 novels, translated into over 20 languages, including a number of books dedicated to Reginald Wexford inspector, the one that is most probably his best-known character.
He also wrote under the pseudonym Barbara Vine and won several literary prizes.

He received the title of baroness during the administration of then British Prime Minister Tony Blair.

Born in London, the daughter of teachers and started in journalism, becoming a reporter in several regional newspapers.
In 1950 he married his colleague Don Rendell, who had her first and only child. Then he decided to leave journalism to devote to family, but not stopped writing, on the contrary, thus beginning his career as a writer of police novels.
