Coach Museum received almost 20,000 visitors in the first weekend … – RTP


 The new facility, also in square Afonso de Albuquerque, like the original building, in the parish of Belém, in Lisbon, were officially opened last Friday, in the evening, and open to the public on Saturday, with the entries for the weekend been free.
 

 “During these two days, there were about 250 guided tours, covering the space that houses a collection of reference, unique in the world, gala car and ride, the sixteenth century to the early twentieth century, mostly from the assets of the Crown or property of the Portuguese Royal House, “said the General Directorate of Cultural Heritage (DGPC), in a statement.
 

 In the same statement, the director general of Cultural Heritage, Nuno Vassallo e Silva, said: “This large influx of audience in the first two opening days, for which it was prepared a special program, reveals the exceptional interest in the new museum in Lisbon at the same time that associates the celebrations of 110 years of its foundation, “by Queen Amelia.
 

 According Vassallo e Silva, “for all employees of the museum and the DGPC, this great increase of visitors is of special significance for the recognition of all the work done in the last year.”
 

 As of today the entries in the new museum cost six euros and spend eight when complete the museum’s building project, according to the office of the Secretary of State for Culture (SEC).
 

 The old stables, where the collection was exposed from the foundation, remain open to the public, and tickets will cost four euros but two that performed so far.
 

 This building will continue to operate as part of the new museum, welcoming some carriages and ceremonial vehicles from the eighteenth century, harness and a center dedicated to Queen Amelia, as well as a gallery of portraits of the kings of Portugal.
 

 The new building was designed by Brazilian architect Paulo Mendes da Rocha, Pritzker Prize in 2006, and currently presents 78 cars, which will keep up the conclusion and implementation of the new museum project.
 

 As for the whole ticket to visit both buildings until the full implementation of the new museum project, is eight euros; with the completion of this project, will ten euros.
 

 Consists of two buildings with four floors, two permanent exhibition halls, a temporary exhibition hall, auditorium, educational service, the new facilities also have a laboratory, workshops, technical and administrative areas.
 

 Occupying 15,177 square meters in the grounds of the old Army General Workshops, the project was designed in partnership with MMBB studios Architects (Brazil), Bak Gordon Architects and Architects Nuno Sampaio (Portugal).
 

 Awarded the socialist government and finalized in 2012, the construction project was intended to implement the counterparts of Casino Lisboa, an investment of 39 million euros.
 

 In 2014, the National Coach Museum received 206,887 visitors, ranking second in the top of the DGPC’s most visited museums, which was led by the National Museum of Ancient Art, also in Lisbon.
