From 28 May to 14 June the Eduardo VII Park back to fill books, as has become customary, for another edition of the Book Fair Lisbon, this year in its 85th edition.
123 participants spread over 271 pavilions, are some of the figures given by organizaçãoo at the conference to present the event, which features some novelties, such as Stage Show Cooking , located at the entrance of the Fair (next to Marques de Pombal), and where will take place presentations of food and cooking books, and still a “camp” for the little ones.
For the first time, and in partnership with the Municipal Libraries of Lisbon, the Book Fair will allow about 120 children spend a single night at the Fair, surrounded by books and stories letters. The initiative Happy Nights Readers: Camping with Stories run for six nights: 29 and 30 May, 5, 6, 12 and 13 June, and aims to encourage a love of reading, promote the Book Fair Lisbon and the Cold Greenhouse Lisbon amongst the young.
“The camp will start at 18:30, followed by a visit by the Book Fair, through the stand of Lisbon Libraries and the Happy Van ( a movable library). After dinner participants will be surrounded by makers of books, character designers and word counters, a surprise program that will be different every night, giving each group a unique and unforgettable experience “- explained the organization
<. p> Even before bedtime, participants of this activity will walk “In Search of Papyrus” in peddy paper by the Cold Greenhouse Lisbon, where they will discover not only the space itself, but also learn about the many plants that inhabit the space. To call sleep, will hear one “Enchanted” and in the morning, after breakfast, participants will fill the daily chart of this experience and will travel the educational games “Ideas with History” until parents arrive, the 10:45.
Among the general programming, especially the Lecture Series to take place every Thursday Thursdays, and will feature an International speaker, in which they speak issues such as copyright and piracy rights; the law of the fixed price; . the international constraints of copyright and the fight against piracy, among others
Another novelty is the Literary Meeting – We and Books , which aims to bring together various literature fans to talk about books, in an informal setting.
A repeat is the presence of Francisco Manuel dos Santos Foundation, which promotes a series of 11 debates subordinate to different themes, with various guests and speakers.
In partnership with the Bank of Donated Goods, the APEL launches the initiative Give New Life to the Book , which will take place during the entire period Fair, and consists of the collection of books (new or used) of all kinds.
Another initiative promoted by APEL is the competition Library Preferred , in order to highlight the libraries, booksellers and the quality of service thereof, whose vote will take place at the APEL site until June 10, with the winners announced on 12.

The 85th edition of the Book Fair of Lisbon is organized by APEL. – Portuguese Association of Publishers and Booksellers and has the support of the Municipality of Lisbon and the Lisbon Libraries
It will be possible to visit the fair from Monday to Thursday, from 12:30 to 23:00.; Friday and holiday eve from 12.30 to 24.00; Saturday from 11h00 to 24h00; and Sunday and holidays from 11h00 to 23h00.
The official opening is scheduled for 16:00 of May 28 and will be attended by the Mayor of Lisbon, Fernando Medina and the Secretary of State for . Culture, Jorge Barreto Xavier
