“Tenor Sax” Roberto Vidal Bolaño in D. Maria II – Newspapers Hardmusica

A suburban misery unlikely among mad, gangsters, pimps and whores – that was how Roberto Vidal Bolaño this subtitled his play, written in 1991


Roberto Vidal Bolaño (1950-2002) is one of the most important contemporary Galician playwrights and was, until his untimely death, an eminent director and actor of Galicia, the Galician professional theater pioneer .

In this piece, the author, rightful heir of Ramon Maria del Valle Inclan, offers us a real ‘ esperpento ‘ of the late twentieth century, in the shadow of Santiago and its Cathedral.

This piece was awarded the Prize Alvaro Cunqueiro of theatrical texts, for best original drama written in Galician in 1991.

This is the debut in Portugal one of the most emblematic works of contemporary Galician playwright, a show staged by José Martins.

“The story begins with the dead. His blood still stains the square. But the work does not begin at that time, but two years later, when a supposed journalist tries to find the truth.

John Grosso, Hugo Franco, Jorge Albuquerque, Maria Amélia Matta, Jorge Maria, Rita Figueiredo, Lita Quarry, Bernardo Chatillon, Luis Geraldo, Lucia Maria Paula Mora, José Neves, Menuel Coelho, Maria Ana Filipe are the performers of this piece.

The show will be on stage until May 24.
