Francis Ford Coppola wins the Princess of Asturias Award of Arts – Terra Brazil

The American filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola (Detroit, 1939) was awarded on Wednesday in Oviedo (northern Spain) with the Princess of Asturias Award of Arts.

Coppola, one of the renovators of American cinema in the decade of the 70s, directed films such as “Apocalypse Now” (1979), the film adaptation of the novel “Dracula” by Bram Stoker (1992) and the trilogy of “The Godfather” (1972, 1974 and 1990).

The jury says Coppola is an “exceptional narrator, which occupies a prominent place in the History of Cinema”, and developed his career with full entrepreneurial and creative independence in all facets.
