Rufus Wainwright recreates opera about Maria Callas in the Gulbenkian – Digital Journal

Rufus Wainwright is one of the novelties of the renewed program of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation.

The musician brings to Lisbon a recreation of his opera ‘Prima Donna written in 2009 inspired by Maria Callas interviews. In this new version, Wainwright plays excerpts of the work, with the artist Cindy Sherman in the role of Maria Callas.

The concert is scheduled for 29 November. Besides Wainwright, they are committed to the program names as varied as the Rodrigo Leão, Estrella Morente and Silvia Pérez Cruz.

In the case of Portuguese composer, is promised to submit a new album that will be written to the show on 20 November. Rodrigo Leão will be accompanied by the Orchestra and the Gulbenkian Choir.

Silvia Perez Cruz will be at the Foundation on 11 November and the Andalusian Estrella Morente on 5 December.
