José Mário Branco was awarded the Charlemagne Prize Career Walls, delivered as part of the fifth edition of the Singing Festival in April.
The award took place on Wednesday in Almadense Academy. José Mário Branco, born 72 years ago in Porto, is an “exponent of Portuguese protest music,” he says in a statement quoted by Lusa a Almada Chamber which sponsors the award.
Over the past editions of Singing Festival in April were honored with the Award Carlos Paredes Carlos do Carmo musicians (2007), Sérgio Godinho (2009), Samuel (2011) and Luisa Basto (2013).
