New restrictions for electronic cigarettes – Renaissance (press release)

According to the newspaper Público, the Government has prepared a draft law to take effect in 2017.

These new amendments to the law will require that the packaging of these products also have labeling to warn of the dangers to health. The general warning must cover 30% of the most visible surface of the package.

The proposed law is intended to protect citizens from involuntary exposure to tobacco smoke and create measures to reduce demand related to dependence and cessation of its consumption.

The Government also intends to ban advertising and promotion of products sold as potentially less harmful than others and with reduced risks for the consumer. It becomes illegal to create electronic pages for information and promotion of these products.
