The Galician corner UxÃa at the Teatro S. Luiz – TSF Online

Mario Dias to talk with Uxia, a work with Herlander Rui sound.

To Uxía Senlle, it all started in 1985 when he won the first prize of Bergantiños Festival. Born in Sanguiñeda, settled up later in Santiago de Compostela, after having lived in Porriño, 17 kilometers from Portugal. Maybe this was why a very strong connection to the “South Galician” name affectionately given to the Portuguese by the people of Galicia, who also assert themselves as “North Portuguese”.

But back to the music, Uxía debuted discograficamente in 1986 (with “foliated de Marzo”), before going on to be the voice of the group “On the Moon”, where he remained four years and recorded two albums. Resuming solo career in 1991, publishes “Between Cities”, a travel drive. The trips that fascinate and later led to a remarkable musical miscegenation.

Back in the records in 1995 with “I’m Vivindo In Ceo” (produced by Júlio Pereira), the fascination with such steepened miscegenation in 1997 with “La Sal La Vida”, which had the participation of Rasha Sudan, the Castilian Maria Salgado and guitarist of Lugo Cuchús Pimentel.

In 2000, a new incursion cultural mixtures, with “Danza das Areas”, attended by Dulce Pontes, João Afonso, Xosé Manuel Budiño, Maria del Mar Bonet, Karen Matheson, Donald Shaw (Capercaillie), Michael McGoldrick or Susana Seivane, these, some 40 singers and guest musicians.

But Uxía is a woman can not be quiet, and in 2005, launched the project “Cantos Maré”, a festival of Portuguese-speaking world that, after several years happening in Pontevedra, dropped bonds for Brazil in in 2009, not before, a year earlier, Uxía had edited the fifth solo album of originals – “Eternal Browse.” – made with Portuguese and African musicians

With some children’s records in a curriculum that also involves production, composition and authoring themes for other voices and the musical work linked to the audiovisual, Uxía have in “My Corner” the latest album, recorded in Brazil, where the voice and the act of singing (with all its consequences) are the dominant theme.

No gimmicks and no fanfare. A voice for the voice, with the sole purpose of reaching the heart of the listener. And it is precisely on this basis that will be made concerts that take this Saturday at 21:00 at the Teatro S. Luiz in Lisbon on October 1 to Coimbra, the Auditorium of the Conservatory of Music, and room 2 Casa da Música in Porto, on the 2nd of October.
