Patti Smith at Lisbon Coliseum: Lift Glory – Digital Journal

The reunion is scheduled for the same room where, in 2007, lived a great rock night. This year, Patti Smith took this alignment to the Port in US Primavera Sound. Not being able to speak in surprise effect, the truth is that when the singer is on stage for an incredibly powerful energy in the air. Compared to his last spell at Lisbon Coliseum it must be said that most people are. There are more tourists, more new people and there is of course the followers ever. The audience was sitting there eight years, this time there were no chairs and was full.

The moment was solemn, hear one of the most iconic albums of the 70s from one end to another with your reinvigorated author and Lenny Kaye at his side is chilling. A concert to ask absorvamos every song, every detail, every Patti messages, all times. Maybe that’s why we feel a return to the past when audiences were not characterized by constant light of smartphones in the air. The vast majority of those present at the Coliseum preferred to keep the experience in brain memory instead of virtual.

This is the power of Horses songs. Alignment comply with the order the album and so it is not any surprise among the interpretations of “Gloria” and “Elegy”.

The intensity, delivery and dedications in the middle is that captivated and thrilled the audience . Patti Smith is grateful and has memory, do not forget their ideals and maintains his convictions. Evokes the names of friends and idols who have departed, deJimmy Hendrix, Jim Morrison, the Ramones Amy Winehouse, fellow Fred “Sonic” Smith to Tom Verlaine, Lou Reed Kurt Cobain. All remembered fondly by the audience who applauded each quoted name.

The authentic way Patti Smith undergoes ‘Redondo Beach’, ‘Kimberly’ or ‘Land’, to name a few times, it is moving. We realize that we admire in it is its ability to be naturally Punk , the spitting on the floor and vocal exaltations not deceive, while hippie , the message change the world continue to sound sincere.

It is between the Punk and hippie that rock of Patti Smith flows in poetic trips, sung the praises of Lisbon and improvisations.

For the farewell the band has prepared an incredible medley of The Velvet Underground. With Lenny Kaye to command without Patti on stage and musicians quietly dressed in black and white, there was a journey into the past that took us as close as possible to the legendary New York clubs like Max’s Kansas City. The rapid succession of “Rock & amp; Roll ‘/’ I’m Waiting For My Man “/” White Light, White Heat “was overwhelming.

As still not enough, Patti Smith returned smiling and offered three classics,” Beneath the Southern Cross “,” Because The Night “and” People Have The Power “. This last moment did more by personal and political convictions than any rally of any party in the election campaign. The Patti personal touch was always present, recalled Fernando Pessoa and dedicated the song “Because The Night” to the deceased father of her children. All naturally, nothing forced.

The farewell was made with a great version of “My Generation” by The Who. Finished with Patti from the strings of a guitar, which Punk stiffer, then kissing with the tenderness of a hippie .

A privilege to attend a concert as well.
