The US justice decided that the song “Happy Birthday” used worldwide to wish someone a happy birthday, is free from copyright payment.

The sentence was handed down on Tuesday at a court in Los Angeles and ends a legal dispute over ownership, by the record Warner publisher, the copyright of one of the most famous, and possibly most sung, songs around the world.

The publisher Warner / Chapell, Warner Music Group, guarantee that owned the rights that song, and as evidence a document that he bought in 1988, dating from 1935 and belonging to the Summy Co company.
