Love and six tons of chocolate invade Obidos until May – Digital Journal

Love and chocolate go hand in hand throughout the Obidos village where, by May 3, the 13th International Chocolate Festival will handle about six tons of chocolate and attract thousands of visitors.

“Only the sculptures were used three tons and half chocolate, to which are added the chocolatier contests, ‘cookings show’, demonstrations and selling products with chocolate that should be used more about two thousand and two thousand five hundred tons, “estimated Vitor Nunes, coordinator of the International Festival of Obidos Chocolate.

Carved since December the 19 elements of Vitor Nunes team, the large sculptures occupy three floors Abilio’s Museum and continue to be the major attraction of the event which this year has the theme love.

That’s right depict the sculptures which highlights the representation of Peter and Agnes [Castro], but also “a piece that shows the love of a mother and a daughter, the truest love that exists,” added Vitor Nunes Lusa.

The delights in chocolate spread up this year by several village streets where for the first time, the festival left the walled perimeter, a model which aims to diminish the public of floods and huge queues that have marked previous editions of the event.

On the second day of the event (which opened to the public on Thursday) the festival ran up no queues, although emblematic places as the House of Chocolate Children have already received, until the early afternoon “about 300 children per day from school groups and individual visits,” the responsibility for space, Patricia Figueiredo.

The smaller, the festival gives ability to “get their hands dirty” and make pizzas with chocolate in Obidos, are called “love bread” and go to bake in “magic ovens left by Santa Claus at Christmas Village”, explains the responsible .

Behind the scenes of the festival, and so far away from the public eye, Vitor Nunes team also prepares one that the deputy coordination considered “another of the magic moments” of the event.

“Today we received [the designers] sketches [of dresses for the passage of chocolate models] and we are starting to do the props,” still under wraps but, says Manuel Gomes, “will have many hearts “.

As part of the decentralization policy of the festival activities, the fashion show will take place this year on May 2, in the parish of the Marine Eye, by a fountain which, the story goes, have been meeting point between Pedro and Inês.
