The National Ballet Company (BNC) will honor, from today, in Lisbon, the legacy of Ballet Gulbenkian with a show that meets four choreographies, one world premiere, created by Vasco Wellenkamp.
Titled “BG”, the show will debut today at 21:00, and will be submitted by March 29, the Camões Theatre, Lisbon, with part of the debut “Is What is Star?” Choreographer Vasco Wellenkamp
From the spectacle of the program are still part of the choreography “Thirteen gestures One Body.” – created in 1987 for the Ballet Gulbenkian, by Olga Roriz – “Twilight” by Hans van Manen, and “Minus 16″, Ohad Naharin’s.
“Is What is Star?” Vasco Wellenkamp, has costumes by Liliana Mendonça, light design of Victor Joseph and the songs will be performed by Maria João with John Flour, at the piano.
The “BG” is presented in association with the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, the organization that created the Ballet Gulbenkian in 1965, the company that would meet 40 years of activity and scoring several generations of dancers and choreographers of the country
The Gulbenkian Ballet Group (later known as Ballet Gulbenkian) was born from the Ballet Experimental Group -. directed between 1961 and 1964 by Norman Dixon – which belonged to the Portuguese Center Ballet, institution funded by the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation.
Extinct in 2005, the Gulbenkian Ballet Group / Ballet Gulbenkian had as artistic directors British choreographer Walter Gore, the Croatian Milko Sparemblek, the teacher and dancer Jorge Salavisa, Brazilian Iracity Cardoso and the dancer and choreographer Paulo Ribeiro.
The tribute show the CNB will in national tour on 10 and 11 April, the Municipal Theatre Rivoli in Porto April 18, the Garcia de Resende Theatre in Evora, and July 17, the Almada, the Municipal Theater.
