Board 80 years of Monopoly with Lisbon in green ‘neighborhood’ – PT Journal

The choice was the fans and Lisbon was the fourth most voted city. The Monopoly celebrates 80 years with a special edition and challenged players to choose the cities that want to see represented in a special edition. The Portuguese capital was the ‘neighborhood’ green, the more valuable the second tray.

As we celebrate the 80th anniversary of Monopoly, Hasbro, which owns the rights to one of the most popular entertainment in the world, has promoted several commemorative boards.

After ‘hide’ real euro banknotes in some games on the French market and to create a ‘vintage’ version for the US market, Hasbro put a vote to create a special edition for the whole world.

In that vote, fans were invited to replace the Game streets cities. And more than four million people in 182 different countries, elected the 22 cities that will be represented in this Monopoly.

The city of Lisbon was the fourth most voted by the fans. Only stayed behind in number of votes, Riga (Latvia), Hong Kong (China) and Lima (Peru).

The influence of the vote determined the location of cities in the different ‘neighborhoods’. Lisbon was placed on the green, ‘neighborhood’ the most valuable second of the game, along with Riga and Istanbul (Turkey).

So, for those who know the board, purple ‘neighborhood’ is made up of Giethoorn (Netherlands) and Madrid (Spain), followed by the clear blue with Queenstown (New Zealand), Cape (South Africa) and Taipei (Taiwan). The next side of the square, the rose is made up of New York (USA), Amsterdam (Netherlands) and Sydney (Australia), with London (England), Moscow (Russia) and Tokyo (Japan) to form the ‘neighborhood’ orange.

In the upper half of the board are Belfast (Ireland), Athens (Greece) and Belgrade (Serbia), which form the ‘neighborhood’ incarnate, and Warsaw (Poland), Mexico (Mexico) and Santiago (Chile), yellow .

More luxurious than the green of Istanbul, Lisbon and Riga only even the ‘neighborhood’ dark blue, with Lima and Hong Kong.
