The film “Visit or memories and confessions” that Manoel de Oliveira ran in the 1980s to be shown publicly only after death, will appear in May at the Cannes Film Festival in France, revealed the organization.
The festival of Cannes, which repeatedly recognized the film by Manoel de Oliveira, will show that film as part of a tribute, about a month after the death of filmmaker, to April 2, to 106 years.
Before Cannes, “Visit or memories and confessions” have the first public showing at the world premiere, on Monday in the town of Rivoli Theatre in Porto. Tuesday will be shown in Portuguese Film in Lisbon.
With dialogues written by Agustina Bessa-Luis, to the voices of Diogo Doria and Teresa Madruga, this is a biopic of Manoel de Oliveira, shot when he was 73, in the house where he lived about four decades with his wife, his children and grandchildren.
The director had deposited a copy in the Portuguese Cinematheque, leaving stipulated that the film should only take public view after death.
