Dir would be that the dream began ten years ago, but that would be incorrect for the spirit of the Good Sons, the festival is the creation and extension of the Community way Cem Soldos, village to take doors , sees his life and his wishes to the location. Maybe in 2006, the year of the first edition, it was a dream for organizers (ie the whole village, aggregated in Sport Workers Club Hundred Soldos) that ten years after the Good Sons was firmly implanted in the script Portuguese festivals, highlighted by its unique characteristics and performing in Deolinda poster, Jorge Palma, Cristina Branco or Carminho. Or, on second thought, maybe not surpreendessem much: they know that wanting, there is talent and will to do and that, therefore, what is planned to happen happens even

The Good Sons 2016 officially kicks off this Friday. Thursday, campers and the public already housed around had the reception right with set DJ Who You, Laura Santos? Now, it’s time to start seriously. That is, the input frames are already assembled, as the eight stages. Restore areas settle in courtyards and old taverns open their doors to welcome those arriving – and prepare for the inevitable sessions of improvised singing arriving late at night. In the Auditorium, the projectors will be tuned to receive the sessions of Short In The Act (or documentary The People , collective work dedicated to the village population, and Stereo of Goncalo POLA, with musician Benjamin as the protagonist) and the rest that there will be seen (pianists Joana Sá and André Barros go there as a dancer and choreographer Vera Mantero, which brings the Serrenhos Cauldron ). In Coffee Tonita, in Rossio Square, nerve center of the village, who attends the counter you are already resigned to the idea that, as in all other editions, will not see any concert – but do not lose hint of agitation, or was not the obligatory passage of Tonita the Good Sons.

Everything is ready, move forward, to get the music. Is it, after all, that every edition of the festival turns the village of thousand inhabitants, in four days, multiplied by ten its population. A decade after the premiere, the festival remains true to an idea – do programming from music created in Portugal – which was being improved over time. In Hundred Soldos, we have a comprehensive picture without aesthetic compartmentalisation of which is the national music scene in the year every issue -. 2014, remember, the Good Sons was biennial, through the annual in 2015

This is the festival where we can hear the spring delicacy of conimbricenses Birds are Indie and sonic rock, now inescapable, the Lisbon Get Monster, with Barcelos indignu, post-rock to the service of narrative ideas, through (the first in the Giacometti stage, the middle stage in the afternoon sun). Here, we have the full life of concertinas Hidden dances, accompanied by the Philharmonic Orchestra of borders, and the fanfare of Kumpania Algazarra (will be on the Stage Lopes-Graça). And, the Stage Eira, mounted on the former threshing floor of the village community, the elegant pop of Best Youth and organic-digital journey of Sensible Soccers, eyes in heaven and nailed feet on the ground to balance the dance. All this on 12 August, the first day – and there is still the Alentejo Sung and John cantautor music and Shadow in the Church of San Sebastian, which hosts the Stage MPAGDP, namely the Portuguese Music to Enjoy Her Own.

In the following days, new reunions, new discoveries, the same spirit. Saturday, the groove Da Chick, expressive guitar Grutera or the voices of Adufeiras Paúl. And also Cristina Branco Fado and Portuguese tradition, reinvented in song for our times, of Deolinda, repeating in Hundred Soldos, a phenomenon that is inaugurated in this issue – the organization originally set it, not to give in to easy solutions and ensure full diversity in programming, would only return to the village band ten years after his first appearance at the festival. And ten years later, here returning, in addition to Deolinda, Lula Pena, Desbundixie, D’Alva, Stone Soup, Lavoisier and the above Kumpania Algazarra, Birds Are Indie, Hidden Dances and Joana Sá.
