All the music (and everything else) there is to discover between a river and a village – publico

The start is Wednesday but actually the Vodafone Paredes de Coura in 2016 began some time ago. We know this because we were seeing on social networks multiply the photos of very green and wooded camping area in the nerve center of the festival, the Fluvial Beach Taboão, to fill up tents every day. We know this because in the village itself, essential center of daily festival experience, unrolled a mini-festival before the festival itself, with Bellrays concerts Handle Monster, Duchess, Greyhound or Quelle Dead Gazelle. Everything prepared, so, in order to start the 24 Paredes de Coura (which has already started).

Last year, for the first time in its history, tickets sold out. This year, everything points to it’s the same – two days ago there were only three thousand general passes. The capacity will not increase, remaining at a maximum of 23,000 daily viewers, because it’s great to feel the warmth of crowds focused on music that stage offer, but is much less than optimal live with sobrelotações that create some nice lines for food and drink or force us to deal with the elbows that grown man we do not know of anywhere. It is certainly not in these conditions that we want to see LCD Soundsystem when, on Thursday, at 22h, go up the stage as especialíssimos heads-of-poster that day and one of the most anticipated bands, not only in the Minho festival but we risk, in Portuguese summer festivals.

the band James Murphy announced a mere five years after returning surprise of epic farewell with a concert at Madison Square Garden, the release of a documentary, Shut Up and Play the Hits , and after him, an album with the recording of the final performance. Throughout his first life, he left an indelible mark on the music born at the dawn of the twenty-first century. Edited three irreproachable albums, toured the world as pristine electro-techno-motorika’n’roll machine and overcome the resistance caused by the breaking of the promise made in 2011 – was the same end of the story, they assured us, and we believed , was growing anxiety at the prospect of reunion

What to Portuguese date of the return tour have chosen Paredes de Coura is, if we want to appeal to romanticism, particularly happy.. It was at this same festival that the band of Losing my edge was released in our country. We were in 2004 and James Murphy and company had not even released the debut album. debuted as a surprise following closely in the coming years, they return as name with reserved place in the history of popular urban music. This relationship with the extended bands in time, a familiarity that close, comes molded in an obvious manner in this edition of the festival.

Now tonight we will have on stage the Unknown Mortal Orchestra, authors of an incendiary concert on stage secondary in 2013, and now returning after the psychedelia mutation lo-fi in psychedelia hi-fi with funk genes incorporated in the system, as featured in the festival’s official start (0h15). On the same day they celebrate the LCD Soundsystem, we will have the privilege of seeing the main stage occupied by Thee Oh Sees, Californians led by John Dwyer fidgety that are today one of the best rock’n’roll band to step off stage planet – in 2014 brought a crowd to the second stage, now present the recently released the Weird Exits in the natural amphitheater that serves the audience of Paredes de Coura (22.20). And we still have. Friday, eclectic Cage The Elephant have prominent heads-of-poster, two years after they were surprised by the crowd that awaited them in the early evening (0h45). Saturday, the Portugal, The Man resurface in Minho, six years after they offered their very rock 70s to late minhoto later: this time, however, will have prominent honor in alignment, prior, at 23.15, the performance of Scottish Chvrches that climb the stage at 1am and are authors of a vaporous electro-pop that Paredes de Coura witnessed in 2014. This, of course, not to mention the Portuguese contingent returns last few years: the Black Ear (Wednesday, 1:45 a.m.), Captain Fausto (Saturday, 19:40), Sean Riley & amp; The Slowriders (Friday, 19h), Moullinex (Friday, 2h), Best Youth (Wednesday, 21:15) or We Trust. The latter, who shall sign the first concert of the festival, this Wednesday, at 20h, will sign a special act, the result of work over the last month with young musicians from Paredes de Coura.
