Work is “sensational” and Hélia deserves premium – Cable poet … – RTP


 Longtime friend of the Portuguese author, Carlota de Barros, who lives in Portugal but presented on Wednesday in Praia, his first work of fiction – “Luna, The Night of Everyday” – said he was ” thrilled “with the prize awarded to Helia Correia.
 

 “I’m thrilled because Helia Correia has a work that I find amazing. It’s a good award, well deserved, congratulations to Hélia. When we return to Portugal will look for her and give her congratulations personally. I’m very happy. It deserves,” he said , recalling the unanimity of the jury.
 

 The announcement of Helia Correia as winner of Camões Prize 2015 was made in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
 

 Novel author, novel and short story, the writer will receive a cash prize of one hundred thousand euros.
 

 The choice of Helia Correia for the 27th edition of the Camões Prize was unanimously of the jury, which featured Rita Marnoto, a professor at the University of Coimbra, Pedro Mexia, literary critic and writer, Innocence Mata, a professor at the universities of Lisbon and Macau, and with writers Affonso Romano de Sant`Anna, Antonio Carlos Secchin and Mia Couto.
 

 The Camões Prize was instituted by Portugal and Brazil in 1989 as a way to recognize authors “whose work contributes to the projection and recognition of the Portuguese language literature around the world,” according to the organization.
