reporting by Sandra Mosque (Text and Photos)

nos_primaverasound_1 More as the Port City Park filled for a true spring party, IN lived Primavera Sound this weekend its busiest edition ever, according to the organizers, about 77,000 people from more than forty different nationalities pass through the park during the three day festival.

The fourth edition of Porto IN Primavera Sound kicked off last Thursday, June 4. A day still means gas, with only nine concerts, the highlights were performances by Patti Smith, Mac Demarco and FKA Twigs.

At 17:00, Bruno Pernadas welcomed the first festival-goers coming to Park City, with beautiful arrangements on a journey through jazz and folk sounds. How can we be joyful in a world full of knowledge is the latest multi-instrumentalist musician design and with the participation of elements of diverse groups, including the You Can not Win, Charlie Brown who acted in the Primavera Sound in 2014.

At 20:00 came the first conflict of schedules with Mac DeMarco and Patti Smith to act simultaneously. The Pitchfork stage would get Patti Smith for an interpretation in acoustic format and “spoken word” in what would be the first of two concerts of the US at the festival. We decided to by Mac DeMarco, which eventually prove to be a wise choice. The Canadian lives up to the fame of “enfant terrible” with a provocative pissed attitude on stage. Among topics like “Salad Days”, “Blue Boy” and “Cooking Up Something Good”, the musician staged several moments of revelry entertaining the audience with his attitude and singular voice

At 21h10, FKA Twigs debuted in Portugal in what turned out to be the great revelation of the night. The British toasted the audience with a mesmerizing performance, unlike anything we have seen so far. Your multicultural descent (the father of daughter Jamaican mother and half Egyptian half Spanish) combined with the sensuous dancing that give shape to a whispering voice give the FKA Tiwgs one essence. No wonder that “Chameleon” and “alien” are the words used to describe this phenomenon deserved a bigger stage at Primavera Sound.

In the format best off , North Ameri- Interpol, awaited by many fans, they became by a reasonable performance, supported by the vast repertoire of the band but marked by the vocals of Paul Banks failures.

The night ended with the contagious electronics of The Juan Maclean and Caribou, a big party for those who, in the day of the week, had not left the room.

The second day of the festival, Saturday was marked by the biggest flood ever in the festival. The City of Park Hills received thousands waiting for the great name of the day: Patti Smith. The singer and poet played the album Horses , published in 1975, with the same power forty years ago.

Patti Smith managed a single connection with the public, several generations, for a historical moment of the festival. During the concert, there was still a warning during disc change to the side B. At the end of the show, Patti Smith revisited, as might be expected, the subjects’ Because The Night “and” Power to people “.

Antony Hegarty was the second big name to rise to the main festival stage backed by an orchestra of nearly 50 musicians. White tunic and melancholy voice, the musician was responsible for one of the most remarkable experiences of the Festival, the spectacle itself but also for the scenario: a stage outdoor illuminated by moonlight in a kind of ritual. Topics such as “I am a bird now”, “You are my sister,” and “Hope there’s someone” were interpreted with the Japanese film 1973 “Mr. O’s Book of the Dead “by Chiaki Nagano, to serve as a backdrop. Unfortunately, this show required absolute silence from the audience, which did not happen

Before the Scots Belle & amp.; Sebastian staged one of the concerts that most captivated the audience. At the sound of songs like “The Party Line” and “Nobody’s Empire” from the new album and some older, juvenile pop band led festival-goers to dance as if they had again 16 years. Unconcerned with perfection, the Belle & amp; Sebastian can communicate with the audience without difficulties involving everyone a big party with friends. In the end, the audience “invaded” the stage in a show that left no one indifferent. . And the night continued with Ariel Pink, Jungle, and The Jewels Run

The third and final day of the festival featured a special guest: the sun, a day that seemed summer. The coats gave way to shorts and gowns, and the festival atmosphere was finally complete

nos_primaverasound_5 The first to take the stage was the Porto Manel Cruz, former -Ornato Violet, which revisited themes of the various projects that integrated before a very interested public, was not this one of the most important names in Portuguese alternative music.

Later, Foxygen Californians gave one of the coolest concerts festival where not missed the contagious energy and a disproportionate madness. The indie pop duo took the stage in the company of three ballerinas in a theatrical interpretation and rock and roll attitude. Like FKA Twigs, the stage Super Bock Super Rock seemed small for such a good show.

In the evening, the guitar and the unmistakable voice of Damien Rice were enough to occupy the main stage of the IN Primavera Sound . The intimate and emotive folk Irish left surrendered the many spectators who heard the concert sitting on the hill of the City Park. During the show were heard songs like “Delicate”, “The Box”, “Cannonball” or “Wild and Free” but was “The Blower’s Daughter” the highlight.

In 2016, the festival returns in 9, 10 and 11 June.
