James Horner, composer of the iconic soundtracks of several films and won two Oscars for his work , died on Monday morning in a plane crash. Horner flying a small private plane when it crashed in California. He was 61.

James Horner worked on three films directed by James Cameron, including Titanic , film that won two Oscars, one for best soundtrack and best song original, shared with lyricist Will Jennings.

It was with the song ‘My Heart Will Go On’ that Horner managed one of his Oscars.

The director Ron Howard, with whom James Horner worked repeatedly expressed its condolences to the composer’s family on the death of his “friend and collaborator,” after his tragic death.

According to the BBC, James Horner traveled alone in the small plane he was piloting when it crashed just north of the California town of Santa Barbara. The plane crash caused a small fire and even left a crater in the ground.

James Horner was nominated for eight Oscars besides the two who won, for soundtracks such as Avatar , A Beautiful Mind , Apollo 13 or Braveheart .

The composer was responsible for soundtrack from the movie ‘A Beautiful Mind’.
