The spaces of the University of Coimbra, considered a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2013, will be tonight, July 3, the target of a videomapping show. 2D and 3D animations, special effects and a color tangle, spread by the Schools of Patio architectural and artistic treasures that so well characterize Coimbra.


 
 

A multimedia presentation will design the facades of the university town episodes in the history of Portugal and the city, taking viewers through an irreverent journey through time. The walls will come pictures of the inside of the Johannine library, the discoveries, the academic crisis of 1969 and Eca de Queiroz phrases, Miguel Torga or Zeca Afonso -. The vice-chancellor of UC, Clara Almeida Santos, the presentation of the event stressed that the aim is to show “the story of the tangible and intangible heritage in a different way”, making the evening of 3 July unforgettable. The event will take place following the celebrations of the city of Coimbra, as well as the celebrations of the International Year of Light.


 
 

The videomapping also go through the building of the Municipality of Coimbra, where people can color with the facade with various patterns, using a touch screen. The show starts at 22h00 and includes 30 sessions in 30 minutes, up to 01.00.


 
 

The show, led by two costumed students (shot in studio), was created by OCUBO studio and took six months to be built, involving more than 30 people in its development. Speaking to Lusa, the artistic director of the studio, Nuno Maya, explained that it was necessary to conduct historical research, photographic recording and mapping of various areas of the university, with laser measures taken.


 
 

The celebrations of the city of Coimbra began to July 1 and will continue until Sunday, April 5. If you had not had the opportunity to be present, the end-of-week promises to be full of events and concerts free in the Mermaid Garden. Tonight, at 21.30, António Zambujo and the Classical Orchestra of the Center – which still bear Samuel Úria in their luggage for a cameo.
