He died on Friday (10), after 83 years, the Egyptian actor Omar Sharif.
He was born in Alexandria, by the name of Michel Shaloub, but switched to Sharif, which means noble in Arabic, because his father did not approve of the acting profession.
Omar Sharif was nominated for a supporting actor Oscar for “Lawrence of Arabia” in 1962. Three years later, played the lead role of “Doctor Zhivago”
