Raduan Nassar: Camões Prize. – The Lookout

The award of the Camões Prize, the most important of the Portuguese, the Brazilian writer Raduan Nassar is not just a well-deserved accolade, is also extremely timely. We will say why it is timely soon. Before you need to make brief comments on the work of the writer. Raduan is the author of exiguous work and very few public appearances, is what is conventionally called the reclusive writer, a category that, in Brazil, has other representatives in the figures of Dalton Trevisan and Ruben Fonseca. Raduan, however, as was said by a Portuguese newspaper reported that the award is not “a recluse by arrogance,” but a simple man.

“archaic Ploughing” was published in 1975. It is a novel , is a novel of great poetic force, an incomparable lyricism, although the author has been placed by some of the criticism next to Guimarães Rosa and Clarice Lispector. It is unique because his prose brings this particular and extremely essential lyricism that is an atavistic Homestead Arab and Mediterranean culture of the author, which makes it unique in terms of Brazilian literature.

Raduan also published “A glass of cholera, “also a short novel, and” Girl on the way, “a tale. In all these books stands out more than powerful theme of sexual impulses treated with what can be summed up in one word: passion. Not by chance, in 1975, about a year after the Spring Portuguese release in 1974 that 25 of historical April, a then young Raduan Nassar presented to the Portuguese writer Almeida Faria with the first edition of “Ploughing archaic” in the hands, and he announced that it was personally present the fresh out book him in Brazil, as “archaic Ploughing” owed much to a novel Almeida Faria rightly entitled “passion” (1965).

Yes, Needless to say the award of the opportunity, and it binds to the paper Raduan in the current Brazilian political moment. Though admittedly reclusive writer, Raduan left his corner in São Paulo for public appearances side of the president Dilma Rousseff, a clear attitude of support for the constitutional government of Brazil and the democratic rule of law. In social networks, so it was announced the award, then multiplied the expressions of congratulations to writer and applause for his stance in support of the constitutional government. In one of the posts, textually states: “Had the Supreme Court awakened from lethargy, the president Dilma Rousseff impediment process would not have even been initiated, by disqualification of who leads.” (Referring to the then mayor Eduardo Cunha) <. / p>

the masterpiece Nassar, “Ploughing archaic” was masterfully adapted for film by director Luis Fernando Carvalho, with a sublime performance of Simone Spoladore actress who, without uttering a single word throughout the film, and having substantially understood the strength and sensual sense emanating from his character in a film that deals with the incest taboo, if exercised with an incomparable talent that is yet to also earn a high premium.
