Johnny Depp will play at Rock in Rio-Lisbon – Lux

The band of Johnny Depp, Alice Cooper and Joe Perry – the Hollywood Vampires – will be the headliner at Rock in Rio-Lisbon on 27 May 2016.

The group, which brings together some of the “heavyweights” of rock, will take the World Stage on 27 May, for a concert that marks its debut in Portugal.

The Hollywood Vampires were born in 1972 on the Sunset Strip, specifically on the rooftop bar of a club called Rainbow Bar & amp; Grill. Here was the meeting place of rock stars who lived in Los Angeles, and the site of obligatory stop for those who were passing through.

“To belong to the club was only necessary to drink more than any other member” recalls Alice Cooper, a founding member of the Vampires. “In a typical night I could find [the club] John Lennon, Harry Nilsson and Keith Moon – dressed employee or chauffeur. The next week there could be Bernie Taupin, Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison or Mickey Dolenz, “adds Cooper.

Three years ago, Alice Cooper and his friend Johnny Depp (actor, musician and producer) decided to recover the spirit of the group and create a space for artists to live together, laugh and play music. Alice and Johnny joined later, Joe Perry (Aerosmith guitarist) and the three released an album that pays tribute to Rock and original Hollywood Vampires.

The “supergroup” which owes its name to the club, he worked at Rock City in Rio de Janeiro last September, in what was the third live performance of the band.

On this day, a number of fans who dressed “strictly” for the concert, wearing clothes of Jack Sparrow (one of the best-known characters from Depp, for which the actor was inspired by guitarist Keith Richards ) and honoring this way, the artist.

The first album Hollywood Vampires, with homonymous name, was released in September this year and is a real tribute to rock music. It includes topics written by great bands and artists like The Who, Led Zeppelin, The Doors, John Lennon, Pink Floyd, plus two original tracks that tell the story of “vampires”, and an introduction written by Sir Christopher Lee, shortly before of his death. The album also counts with the participation of several guests of “rock royalty” as Slash (Guns N ‘Roses), Sir Paul McCartney (The Beatles), Brian Johnson (AC / DC), Zak Starkey (son of Ringo Star , drummer of The Who and Oasis), Dennis Dunaway (Alice Cooper), Perry Farrell (Jane’s Addiction, Porno for Pyros, Satellite Party), Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters), Tommy Henriksen (Alice Cooper, Warlock), Robby Krieger (The Doors, Butts Band), Abe Laboriel Jr., Neal Smith (Alice Cooper), Glen Sobel (Alice Cooper), Joe Walsh (Eagles), Kip Winger (Winger, Alice Cooper) and Bruce Witkin.
