Ana Moura – a throwback to signing with discs – TSF Online

“Desfado”, published in 2012, was already foresee what would follow in the recording career of Ana Moura: a disc that goes beyond the Fado. Edited three years later, “Moura” was being built along the tour of the album that preceded a tour that will end only on the 4th of December, in Estonia.

Counting again with the production of” old fox “Larry Klein, the Canadian who has in the curriculum productions Joni Mitchell or Herbie Hancock and had already signed” Desfado “,” Moura “is a work that, although it is the logical continuation of the previous disc, is different in some aspects such as example in sound: while “Desfado” had a more raw sound, this “Moura” is sonically more elaborate, with the Portuguese guitar electrified in some of the themes and various details that make the difference as “feedback” and drag tape sounds boot.

Recorded in studios in Hollywood and Los Angeles, “Moura” took Angelo Freire (Portuguese guitar) and Pedro Soares (viola de fado) support with Ana Moura is usually presented on stage, but also featured a suit of musicians who are a true luxury: on guitars, Dean Parks (with studio recordings for Diana Ross, Madonna, Stevie Wonder and Elton John); on bass, Dan Lutz (who has worked with Liz Wright and Michael Buble); the keys, Pete Kuzma (who has accompanied the great ladies Jill Scott and Liz Wright); on drums, Pete Korpela (with a curriculum that goes by Melody Gardot or Robbie Williams) and battery Vinnie Colaiuta (man of “skins” for many years Frank Zappa and Sting).

And so was recorded this “Moura”, an album whose title was born from joining tips that start at Ana’s nickname (Moura) and end up in two of the topics that make this album and that are two pictures of the singer: “Moura” (with a poem by José Eduardo Agualusa) and “Moura Encantada” (with Manuela Freitas letter). And since I spoke of two of the authors of the lyrics of this album, is the reference to other lyricists: Carlos Have, Edu World, Jorge Cruz, Kalaf, Marcia, do Rosário Pedreira Maria, Miguel Araújo Jorge, Pedro Abrunhosa, Pedro da Silva Martins and Samuel Úria.

The more personalized the original six of Ana Moura discs, this “Moura” is named after war in subscription form, a cover where stands a butterfly, metamorphosis symbol Ana Moura has played throughout his career, a metamorphosis embodied in “Moura”, an album of elegant sung mixtures by Moura enchanting.
