Revenue from monuments, museums and palaces rose 60% in the first half – Digital Journal

Revenues from monuments, museums and palaces rose 60 percent in the first half of this year compared to 2014, reaching nearly six million, with foreigners representing two-thirds of visitors, according to official figures.

These figures relate to cultural centers under the auspices of the General Directorate of Cultural Heritage (DGPC) and show that, from January to June this year totaled more than 1.8 million visitors who “surrendered” 5.7 million euros, two million more than in the same period last year.

Two out of three entries did not speak Portuguese and the deputy director general of Cultural Heritage Samuel Rego has no doubt that cultural tourism is to increase and enhance the overall tourism
