Queer Festival: ‘Something Must Break’ wins at St George (with … – PT Journal

Queer Lisboa festival distinguished a feature film from Sweden. ‘Something Must Break’, Ester Martin Bergsmark attracted the jury with an “challenging originality and poignant vision.” ‘Atlantis’, one Argentine-French coproduction, left the Cinema São Jorge with an honorable mention.
 

Triumph for ‘Something Must Break’, honorable mention for ‘Atlantis’. At Cinema São Jorge, the jury of the 18th Festival International Queer Lisboa distinguished the work of Swedish director Ester Martin Bergsmark, but honoring concorrênciada Argentine-French co-production.


 

In the words of the jury, ‘Something Must Break’ is “a highly physical movie that stirs our senses unexpectedly” with a “defiant originality and poignant vision” and even being “a movie which almost feel the flavor and smell. “


  Jurors Lene Thomsen Andino, Manuel Mozos and Michael Blyth attributed an honorable mention to ‘Atlantis’, Inés María Barrionuevo, “for his subtle and alluring evocation of youth.”
 

The protagonist of the Swedish film, Saga Becker received the award for the best interpretation of “honest and revealing interpretation, both emotional and physical.”


 

The distinction Becker was shared with Kostas Nikouli (in ‘Xenia’) and Angelique Litzenburger (in ‘Party Girl’).


 

Still in feature films, the Audience Award was given to ‘Rosie’, Marcel Gisler.


 

In short metragen won ‘Mondial 20100, Roy Dib, while the public distinguished the Portuguese’ Gypsy ‘, David Bonneville.


 

The best Portuguese short film was ‘Frei Luís de Sousa’ of SillySeason.


  ‘Julia,’ a German-Polish co-production, was the best documentary, although the public the choice has fallen on ‘Paul in Hi-Fi’, the Lufe Steffen.
 

According to the organization’s data, the 18th edition of the Queer Festival allowed the display of 135 movies, coming from 38 countries.
