“Mountain”, the first feature film of John Salaviza, opening up today – RTP

 “Mountain” is a film about David, a 14 year old who first loves lives, faces an absent father and deals with a hospitalized grandfather.
 

 The character is played by David Mourato, a non-professional actor, John Salaviza found among more than 400 candidates. Enter yet Chayenne Rodrigues, Maria Joao Pinho, Rodrigo Perdigão and Carloto Cotta, a cast that crosses the films “Rafa” and “Arena”, previous short films Salaviza.
 

 “My desire to film undergoes a very specific relationship with a specific person, in this case David Mourato. The film takes place that teens ground, but I have no intention to universalize through the things that I shoot,” said the director Lusa.
 

 “Mountain” has all the elements of a classic film, Salaviza says, listing the rites of passage, the first love, the confrontation with the parent.
 

 John Salaviza, 31, arrives at the “Mountain” after making a series of short films and two weight premiums in the curriculum: the Cannes Palme d’Or with “Arena” in 2009 and the Golden Bear Berlin, with “Rafa” in 2012.
 

 While the film hits cinemas Portuguese, John Salaviza preparing to go live some time in Brazil with his wife Renee Nader, who will make the next film.
 

 Will live close to the Krahô, an indigenous people whose community has little more than two thousand inhabitants, and living in the state of Tocatins. The Krahô will be the center of the next project.
