The Hollywood Vampires, the band that joins Alice Cooper, Johnny Depp and Joe Perry, are the second confirmation for the Rock in Rio Lisboa 2016. The rock band will perform on 27 May at the World Stage, the same stage a week before will receive the Queen with Adam Lambert.
After a concert in the Brazilian edition of Rock in Rio, held last September, the Hollywood Vampires will present in the Portuguese version of the festival, as heads-of poster. The Rock in Rio Lisboa will return to the Bela Vista Park in Lisbon, on 20, 21, 26, 27 and 28 May.
One of the members of the Hollywood Vampires is Alice Cooper. The artist began his solo career in the late 1970s and during this period launched iconic albums such as Lace and Whiskey , From the Inside and Constrictor . The band also makes up with Johnny Depp, who, in addition to movie star, rock guitarist and lover. His musical talent would be proven in various presentations, in which the artist accompanied musicians such as Marilyn Manson known, Steven Tyler (Aerosmith), Keith Richards (Rolling Stones), among others. Another “Vampire Hollywood” is Joe Perry, distinguished by the American Rolling Stone as one of the best guitarists of all time and integrating the Rock’n’Roll Hall of Fame and Songwriters Hall of Fame together with their companions of Aerosmith.
The first album Hollywood Vampires, with homonymous name, was launched in September this year and is a tribute to rock music. It includes topics written by great bands and artists like The Who, Led Zeppelin, The Doors, John Lennon, Pink Floyd, plus two original tracks that tell the story of “vampires”, and an introduction written by Sir Christopher Lee, shortly before of his death.
The album also counts with the participation of several guests of “rock royalty” as Slash (Guns N ‘Roses), Sir Paul McCartney (The Beatles), Brian Johnson (AC / DC), Zak Starkey (son of Ringo Starr, drummer of The Who and Oasis), Dennis Dunaway (Alice Cooper), Perry Farrell (Jane’s Addiction, Porno for Pyros, Satellite Party), Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters), Tommy Henriksen (Alice Cooper, Warlock), Robby Krieger (The Doors, Butts Band), Abe Laboriel Jr., Neal Smith (Alice Cooper), Glen Sobel (Alice Cooper), Joe Walsh (Eagles), Kip Winger (Winger, Alice Cooper) and Bruce Witkin.
The group’s name is a tribute to the true Hollywood Vampires, a group of rock musicians who met at the Rainbow (in Sunset Strip, Los Angeles) to drink. Alice Cooper was one of the founders and explained to Rolling Stone that “to become part of the club just had to drink more of other members’ . “In a typical night I could find [the club] John Lennon, Harry Nilsson and Keith Moon – dressed employee or chauffeur.
