Home of Ian Curtis becomes museum of Joy Division – Swab

The house where Ian Curtis lived and was killed in 1980 in Macclesfield (outside Manchester), will become a museum of Joy Division and a digital platform to support local musicians.

The property, which was for sale and that was the target of a failed attempt to crowdfunding by fans of Joy Division to make it a museum, was purchased by patrons Hadar Goldman, who is also an admirer of post-punk band that immortalized Ian Curtis. – advances the Guardian

Interestingly, even in this matter, the estranged former members of Joy Division, Bernard Sumner (guitar and keyboard player) and Peter Hook, disagree on the conversion of Ian Curtis house a museum of Joy Division. If Hook pleases you the idea, Sumner fears that this glorification encourage more suicides. It is recalled that Peter Hook left New Order in litigation with Bernard Sumner.

Macclesfield property was used by Anton Corbijn to film ‘Control’, a film that portrayed the life and the journey of Curtis and others elements of Joy Division.
