António Silva, better known as Silva Chief, died this Wednesday, October 14th. Was one of the chefs of the best-known traditional Portuguese cuisine along with Filipa Vacondeus, who died earlier this year.
He started working in the hotel sector in Lisbon at 18, but it was in Maputo that began as a chef in several hotel restaurants. In Lisbon, I worked at Hotel Avenida Palace and was also responsible for Grill in the Hotel Altis. Also opened the Super Chef restaurant in the 90′s and was the founder of the magazine “TeleCulária.”
The Chief Silva debuted on television in 1974 with recipes program in RTP. . Also participated in various television programs, at the request of Julius Isidro, and was for several years in Praça da Alegria, also public station
It was also the author of eight books: “Snacks and frolics” (2002) ; “Flavors Overseas” (2002); “Bacalhau à Portuguesa” (2003); “cakes and sweets to Silva Head” (2004); “Codfish Chief Smith” (2004), “Portuguese Conventual Sweets” (2005); “Best Of – The My Best Recipes” (2006, stamp text editors); “Best Of – The My Best Recipes.” (March 2015, stamp Casa das Letras)
The funeral is scheduled for Thursday, 17:30, in the parish church of Santiago de Caldelas, where It was the natural chef.
