Marching to give voice to the end of animal suffering – Neither rain prevented about 500 people to march on Saturday, between Campo Pequeno and the Parliament, for the rights of animals. It was the sound of screams order – end of bullfighting in Portugal, dignity for all, end the slaughter in the kennels, among others – that the protest took place for several hours.
A demonstration that took place a week after the World Animal Day and the PAN (Party of People, Animals and Nature) have for the first time to elect a member of parliament. The leader of this political party, André Silva, also present in this march organized by ANIMAL, stressed the importance of ending the use of animals for begging purposes.
“It is not acceptable to use animals in which you are forced unnatural behavior for moneymaking. Making it equally important to reduce the VAT rate for food and medical treatment of animals, and subsequently, these expenses can be deducted on IRS. A measure that would have huge financial impact on poor households (50% of households have a pet), “added the leader of the PAN.
As the deputy of 39 years, Rita Blanco also attended this march. The actress, told the A Bola, claimed the “end of the slaughter in the kennels.”
The organizer of this march and President of ANIMAL, Rita Silva, stressed that the law has been in place since October 2014 and criminalizing animals against ill-treatment has not been effective.
“The competent authorities have not been competent. There needs to be more and better training for those who have to carry out this law. Every day I receive dozens of complaints and each is rugged. Cases of rape shocked me always enough, there is a case for example of a dog that was thrown to a river with gagged mouth and with their feet tied. ”
The deputy PAN believes that all people have the cultural right to have fun, but do not have the right to have fun at the expense of suffering and death of animals.
“This is not acceptable in 2015 in an anachronistic and completely out of practice,” added André Silva.
