Movies The Cats Do not have Vertigo by Antonio-Pedro Vasconcelos, The Maya , John Botelho, and The Great Kilapy Zeze Gamboa of Angola, are the nominees for the fourth edition of Sophia premiums, according to the announcement Wednesday in Lisbon, the Portuguese Film Academy.

                     


                          The Cats Do not have Vertigo has 15 nominations – a total of 20 categories – covering virtually all areas. Embodiment, male and female representation, film directing or original argument

The Maya – Romantic Scenes of Life , the Portuguese most watched film in 2014, sum 13 nominations for the awards Sophia, also in the main categories. With twelve nominations arises The Great Kilapy .

For best film in addition to the three aforementioned titles, is also named The Invisible Life , Vítor Gonçalves.

The ceremony of Sophia Awards is scheduled for April 2, at Centro Cultural de Belém in Lisbon, and will have live broadcast on RTP2.

In the list of nominees is highlighted for the actress Maria João Pinho, with a double quote: for best leading actress in The Invisible Life (next to Filipe Duarte, who is also nominated for best actor), and Best Supporting Actress in The Maya .

For best documentary were selected War or Peace of Rui Simões, Fado Camané , by Bruno de Almeida, And Now? Reminds me , Joaquim Pinto, and Alentejo, Alentejo , Sergio Tréfaut.

When Sophia prize for best animated short film competing 20 Drawings and a Hug , José Miguel Ribeiro, Corner 4 Paths , Nuno Amorim, was the Wire , Patricia Figueiredo, and Soot , David Doutel and Sá Vasco.

The Academy had already previously announced that the actress Eunice Muñoz and the actor and director Luis Miguel Cintra will be honored with the Career Award in 2015.

Sophia Awards were launched in 2012 to distinguish the professionals of national cinema by their own peers, and include about two dozen categories. The Portuguese Film Academy was founded in 2011 and is chaired by producer Paulo Trancoso.

Last year, Joaquim Leitão won the award for best director Sophia, with Up Tomorrow Comrades . Sophia’s Best Film was awarded to The Last Time I Saw Macau , João Pedro Rodrigues and João Rui Guerra da Mata.
