PSD wins elections with an absolute majority – Manuel Albuquerque is the new President of the Regional Government of Madeira. The Social Democratic Party won the regional elections with an absolute majority, gathering 44.33% of the vote and elected 24 deputies, one less than in the last elections.
The CDS-PP remains the second political force, collecting about 13.69% of voter preferences. But the Socialist Party, which competed related to three other political forces – PTP, PAN, MPT [coalition `Mudança`] 11:41 won% of the vote.
The big surprise was the movement Together the People (JPP) that gathered 10:34% of the vote.
The abstention stood at 51.28%.
In these elections, convened following the letter of resignation of Alberto João Jardim thus closes a chapter of about 40 years in power of the autonomous region, were to vote 11 political forces, specifically eight parties (PSD, CDS, BE, JPP, PNR, BUT, PND and PCTP / MRPP) and three coalitions – Change (PS / PTP / MPT / PAN), CDU (PCP / PEV) and Citizens Platform (PPM / PDA).
