The first recording of Elvis Presley, made in acetate in 1953 and who had come to auction in January, was acquired by the American musician Jack White, for 270,000 euros and will be reissued on vinyl in April.

According to Rolling Stone, the anonymous that in January, got that recording, consisting of two subjects, after all was Jack White, musician, producer and admirer of Elvis Presley, who plans to edit the registry on 18 April at the Record Store Day.

“My happiness” and the theme “That’s when your heartaches begin” were recorded at June 18, 1953, in Sun Studios in the United States. Elvis Presley, then 18, wanted to know how his voice sounded so recorded and paid four US dollars to record two songs in an acetate 78 rpm to provide the mother.

As the family did not have turntable, Elvis Presley went to a friend’s house, Ed Leek, listen to the disc and this stayed there for sixty years. Ed Leek was the daughter who decided to sell it at auction, which took place on January 8 in Memphis, on the day that Elvis Presley would be 80 years.

Graceland, managing body of rights Elvis Presley, describes “My happiness” as “a part of the Holy Grail of the artifacts in the history of rock n ‘roll.”

Elvis Presley died in 1977, aged 42. “My happiness” exits from the Third Man Records, independent label founded in 2001 by Jack White and account especially with editions in vinyl.
