The title was announced today at the Children’s Book Fair in Bologna, Italy. “The papyrus Caesar” is the 36th adventure of the hit series “Asterix and Obelix”, created by René Goscinny and Albert Uderzo. This new volume, however, will be written by Jean-Yves Ferri and Didier Conrad.
It is not the first time Ferri and Conrad signed an adventure of small (but strong) mustachioed heroes. The last volume, “Asterix among the Picts,” published in 2013, was also designed by the illustrator and French writer, the first in which Uderzo did not participate.
“The papyrus Caesar” remains unknown and sharpens the curiosity of fans BD series, Éditions Albert René but the publisher has advanced this 36 volume tells a story “complex and throbbing” which refers to the present and in which abound new characters, fights and of course the magic potion .
Uderzo and Goscinny revealed Asterix in Pilote magazine in 1959. Asterix and Obelix are inseparable friends. The first is small and has blond hair and mustache. The second has a mustache and red braided hair is big, clumsy and has a disproportionate force to have fallen into a super potion cauldron as a child. The two live in a small village stubbornly resisting the military attacks of the Romans, all thanks to this magic potion that Obelix fell, invented by Panoramix druid, which gives supernatural strength to all the villagers.
first book of the series was entitled “Asterix the Gaul”. Published in 1961, conquered the world, selling more than 350 million books, translated into more than a hundred languages, including Portuguese and Mirandese.
The partnership between Uderzo and Goscinny ended in 1977 with the death of writer, but the name of both was always kept in the signing of the stories. Albert Uderzo, 87, withdrew from the series in 2011 claiming fatigue.
The last published volume, “Asterix among the Picts”, which had the trip of irreducible Gauls towards Scotland, sold about 5.4 million copies worldwide
