George Michael releases live album with an orchestra – Diário de Notícias – Lisbon

on The 17th of march the musician releases his first new album in ten years. With the title ‘Symphonica’ is a log live captured during their tour of 2011 and 2012.

The 22 August 2011, the theatre of the State Opera in Prague, along the banks of the Danube, received a different night. On the stage an orchestra… And even then nothing new. But compared to musicians, came on the scene George Michael, that would be the first concert of a tour that, with a combined total of 75 dates, it would be prolonged until 31 December of the following year. The singer, who had begun his career 30 years earlier as one of the two elements of the Wham! gave thus a further step in the demarcation of a posture far from the star teen who once built it. And with an alignment done versions and new orchestrations for his songs, he has filled rooms night after night until you see the cloth down one last time on 1 December 2012 in Australia. This was only his fifth solo tour since 1986, it marked the farewell of the Wham! in a mega-concert at Wembley stadium, called Symphonica Tour. And now, a little over a year later about this last concert in the Hunter Valley, the record of these songs and is preparing to reach the disk, in an album that gave the same title of the tour and that you have release, by Universal, on the 17th of march.

Symphonica arises ten years after Patience, the latest studio album from George Michael, and represents the first long-duration live (including audio recordings of the stage, Five Live, 1993, was in fact only an EP). With production from veteran Phil Ramone, the album (which will be edited in a version standard with 14 themes and in another, with three extras) will include, as the alignment of the concerts, a substantial portion of songs from the album Songs From The Last Century and Patience, joining yet classic your of other times – such as Praying For Time, A Different Corner or Cowboys and Angels – and versions of themes such as Let Her Down Easy, the original of Terence Trend d Arby, that will be released also in the format of a single. This week the singer performed, to downloading free, the theme of Praying For Time on his official website (in georgemichael.com). ;
