IN Alive, day 1: overwhelming victory at the polls of Muse – Digital Journal

Tickets for this first day were a precious commodity in desperation sought the enclosure doors. Earlier this week Álvaro Covões had explained to the press that currently the organization assumes that there is always a most desired concert in the festival. In previous years it had been Radiohead and Arctic Monkeys; this year that responsibility fell to the Muse. The sellout approved the choice of the English band.

Despite being a Thursday, the crowded room early noticed by the pilgrimage to the front ranks of the biggest stage and the T-shirts that most were there to see and review Muse. Many English and Spanish, as always, mixed with other nationalities not so easily identified. From year to year it is noticed more and more that people go to the festival to fill social appetites, rather than absorb everything that comes from the stage – cross talk that make listening more and more difficult music.

There is a growing trend among the Portuguese festival-goers: they and they choose to bring scarves and sweaters of the football clubs of the heart. Natural highlighting the colors of the three teams with more fans around here.

A phenomenon that could be verified by anyone who saw comfortably at home the most anticipated evening concert broadcast live on RTP. A cover that gains a new dimension this year approaching via smartphone who’s in the room and those who follow at home.

Musically speaking, this was not a night of revelations or surprises. The cancellation Jessie Ware has created some disappointment but made room for a good national bet, the Captain Fausto started the last minute recap and returned to triumph in a space that already knew the 2013 edition.

In the Heineken stage in the evening, and before the Portuguese Captain Fausto, Scottish Young Fathers scored points and saw the singles ‘Sham’ and ‘Rain or Shine’ are sung by an attentive audience while still away from the night floods.

It was the British Metronomy the first in this year’s Alive to fill the steps of the great tent of the Heineken stage. With the disc “Love Letters” still resonate and a passage on various topics welcomed in celebration, with many eyes fixed on the drummer Anna Prior.

Later Django Django return to a stage where you have been so happy but no longer the freshness of the debut and the fight against the temptation of many festival-goers leaving the premises after Muse.

Yet many have resisted until after 3 am to dance to the Flume Australian, as seen in the passage of “Some Minds.”

Attention walked always more facing the side of the enclosure because tents on the biggest stage musical offer until 22:30 was little more than inconsequential. The Wombats of Liverpool go unnoticed to strong daylight although the single “Greek Tragedy” has been identified from a distance. After James Bay has focused some curious fans and are delighted with the success “Hold Back The River.”

Ben Harper & amp; The Innocent Criminals in 2015 on the main stage Alive is so irrelevant that not even a vacationer “Steal My Kisses” justifies such a presence. The audience indifference not mind.

Let’s finish with the two bets for the highlights of the night in the US stage. As for Muse had no doubt who would be the kings of the night, and perhaps of the whole festival, dragging the crowd that sold out early the tickets for this day.

As for the promotion of Alt-J for the larger space Alive was far from unanimous. Recall that the band of Leeds gave an unforgettable concert in the Heineken tent at the right time when the debut album was among the best 2012 forward. “This is All Yours” was followed in 2014 was far from the same impact. On stage Alt-J do not seem comfortable in such large and eager audience by Muse also comes with only the most known songs in the front rows. It would have been better for band and fans to repeat the Heineken stage, as with the Django Django, but before both anonymity until that time on the main stage must have to gain some less attentive fans.

The Muse fulfilled all which promised. Parade of songs that are already hymns scattered throughout his discography started in 1999 although less euphoric passages by new songs from “Drones”, except in the epic start-up and in force with “Psycho”.

An hour and a half without great exuberance scenic – themselves not drones, for example. The final stretch was the most effusive with launching giant balloons by the audience and rain of confetti and red and white ribbons to the sound of ‘Mercy’, ‘Time is Running Out’ or ‘Reappers. ”

Along with Coldplay and Radiohead, Muse are rare school bands from the 90 that may point to stage mega productions. They work for large crowds and not disappoint. They have signed the most anticipated concert of this NOS Alive.
